Labyrinth Walks

An ancient practice for modern times.

The labyrinth is an ancient pattern that has been used for thousands of years as a tool for meditation, healing, and self-reflection. Unlike a maze, which is designed to confuse, a labyrinth has a single, winding path that leads you to the center and back out again. There are no dead ends, no wrong turns — only the journey itself. Walking a labyrinth invites you to quiet your mind, connect with your body, and open to whatever wisdom wants to emerge. It's a practice that integrates body, mind, and spirit, offering a pathway to clarity, insight, and inner peace.

My journey with the labyrinth.

I am honored to have completed training as a Veriditas Labyrinth Facilitator. Veriditas is the world leader in labyrinth facilitator training, founded by the Reverend Dr. Lauren Artress, who introduced the labyrinth to Grace Cathedral in San Francisco and has been training facilitators since 1997.

The Veriditas training prepared me to introduce others to the labyrinth in a thoughtful, articulate, and professional way. I learned about meditative walking in various settings and with diverse populations, with a focus on the eleven-circuit medieval labyrinth — a replica of the pattern found in Chartres Cathedral in France.

As a Veriditas-trained facilitator, I am part of a global community dedicated to using the labyrinth as a tool for personal and community transformation. This training deepened my understanding of the labyrinth's history, symbolism, and therapeutic potential, while teaching me how to hold space for others as they walk their own unique path.

Why walk the labyrinth?

The labyrinth offers a gentle, non-denominational practice that welcomes people of all backgrounds and beliefs. You don't need any special skills or prior experience — just a willingness to walk and be present.

People walk the labyrinth for many reasons: to quiet the mind, reduce stress, gain clarity on a difficult decision, process grief or loss, celebrate a milestone, or simply to reconnect with themselves. The beauty of the labyrinth is that it meets you exactly where you are.

As you walk, you may experience insights, emotions, or a sense of peace. Or you may simply enjoy the rhythm of your footsteps and the beauty of the pattern beneath your feet. There is no right or wrong way to walk a labyrinth — the practice itself is the teacher.
